‣ This name is to help you easily identify your server on tableos.net and is not visible to anyone else. You can make this anything you want and you can change it any time. We recommend something simple, such as the location of your server and its purpose (e.g., "Living Room Media" or "Office Backup").
Public (reachable over the internet):
‣ Many choose to self-host services for others to access over the internet. This can be something completely open to the public like a website, or something only certain users are allowed to access, such as a password protected cloud storage drive or an invite-only game server.
Private (your local network only):
‣ If you're only planning to access your server on your own local area network (WiFi or LAN), you can keep it off the internet entirely for a completely private experience.
‣ For your server to be accessible over the internet, you'll want a domain name so people can easily find it. If you'd like, we can set one up for you with the extension '.tbl.net' free of charge. If you're bringing your own domain you can leave this blank (you'll have to set it up yourself). If you're unsure about this at the moment, you can always choose one later.
Shipped Easy-Install USB ($20):
‣ To install TableOS, we provide an ISO file you can download and write to a bootable USB stick. If you're not sure how (it's different than just copying files), we can ship you a USB stick with the installer pre-loaded.
Setup Phone Assistance ($80):
‣ If you're comfortable installing operating systems and editing router settings, we provide full documentation. If you'd like over the phone assistance, we offer a 30-minute setup call. (To reduce potential variables and aid in a smooth installation, telephone assistance is only available with a shipped USB stick.)
Offsite Backup ($5/month or $50/year):
‣ You can maintain your own backups manually, or by installing TableOS on a second PC and configuring it as a backup store. Alternatively, we can store a regular backup of your data on our premises. Your data is fully encrypted before it leaves your server, so we can't read it. You can cancel this additional service or delete your data from our servers at any time. We offer a 17% discount if you choose annual billing.
